Daily activities

From horticulture to animal care, from carpentry to catering, from art and craft to pottery – we have meaningful activities to suit most tastes and abilities.

However, it wasn’t always like that. When the charity first started, as Pathways Care Farm, we grew a few vegetables and looked after a small number of chickens and goats. As the team has gained some highly skilled people, the market garden has flourished and now generates such quantity and variety of produce that there is a vibrant marketplace for the public to enjoy. The animal care has also grown dramatically to include donkeys, alpacas, pigs, ducks and guinea pigs (nobody talks about the moles).

The carpentry workshop and farm café are excellent and offer wonderful opportunities to learn new skills and gain ‘real’ work-related experiences.

AQA certificates are also attainable in all topics to demonstrate and celebrate achievements.

The people-centred ethos has not changed but, as traditional farmwork is no longer the dominant activity, the name has become, simply, ‘Pathways’, to reflect the shift in emphasis and variety of opportunities on offer.
